![]() We went back to Bouchon this month having missed our annual trip to Napa Valley last year due to the pandemic’s lockdowns and the year before that, due. My wife and I had a memorable and very satisfying lunch at Bouchon about 3 years ago. At the end of almost every dinner out I ask myself would I return? To Bouchon yes, yes, yes.Īs a matter of fact we are returning tonight to reprise what I hope will be a more successful evening. I was not expecting this nor did I request it. Much to my surprise, they comped the whole meal. I asked for another dinner plate and my partner and I shared my steak and french fries. I suggested that” in a real restaurant they would have taken away my main course also and started from scratch replacing both main courses“ I truly do apologize as in retrospect I find this a little harsh and crude. Of course just then, Jason the very capable manager, maître d’, host came over and said your food is just about to come out. Finally I called Richard, our most excellent waiter over And called it quits. The lamb and mashed potatoes were sent back to the kitchen for reheat or whatever they were going to do and we waited, and waited. The hanger steak and huge volume of french fries, thank you was just right. ![]() The lamb and its accompanying side of mashed potato was lukewarm. Then came the long wait for the main courses. It was excellent perfectly dressed very fresh and all you can ask for. The salad was very slow in coming, 37 minutes to be precise. We shared a warm goat cheese salad, hanger steak, roast lamb. Up front service was very good, as we were given water, bread, pistachio nuts and two glasses of Albrecht to start the evening. We were able to score a to top just by the entrance in the front corner of the restaurant and it proved to be one of the nicest tables in its own little secluded corner. Everyone was talking in highly raised voices to be heard over the thumping soundtrack and. for our reservation we found the place 95% packed, bustling, loud.
